Studio Membership

Our membership program at JP Clay is for ceramicists who have at least six months to a year of experience in clay and want to work independently on their own projects! We have a dedicated member-only area for our members to use whenever we are open! No scheduling necessary.

Overview

  • Membership is in two-month increments. Cost for each two-month increment is $435.

  • Members have a dedicated work area that is never used for classes or reserved for other uses.

  • When classes are not in session, the classroom side of the studio may also be utilized by members.

  • Members have a dedicated shelf (18” x 48”) for their personal tools, in progress work, etc. No overflow space is available.

  • Members have access during all open hours and no scheduling is needed to come in.

    • Monday: 12pm-9pm

    • Tuesday-Friday: 10am-9pm

    • Saturday-Sunday 9am-9pm

    • Studio is closed on occasional days around major holidays. A studio calendar is always up to date.

    • Come as often as you like, but if you’re a heavy user, be mindful of busy times and cede space to others if needed.

What we provide in our members studio

  • Eight wheels (plus an additional 11 wheels on the classroom side)

  • Eight handbuilding tables (plus an additional four tables on the classroom side)

  • A slab roller

  • Tools, sponges, water bowls, forms, pretty much whatever you need to work in the studio (although many members use their own tools)

  • Free use of 14 house-made glazes (182 glaze combinations)

  • Five different clay bodies, plus reclaim clay, all available for sale by the 25-pound bag

  • A template-based firing allotment, with generous firing limits and the opportunity to buy additional space if you go over.

  • Firing using two Coneart electric kilns (we fire your work, to cone 6 only, so you do not need to operate a kiln at any point)

Some additional details

  • You must buy your clay from JP Clay, and no outside clay is permitted

  • No bagged or greenware clay can leave the studio

  • Your shelf space is your limit; there’s no overflow storage available.
