July 15 - 19, STEAM, Ages 7 - 9

$420.00

July 15 - 19

9am - 3pm

In this camp, kids will combine their love of art and science to create fun projects ranging from fluffy slime to watercolor/salt paintings. We will dive into the worlds of science and art to see how the two can coincide and influence each other in a multitude of ways, while also inspiring little minds to think outside the box!

Neighborhood Arts Collaboration:

To broaden student’s arts experience, each week we’ll be spending time at The Rozzie Square Theater, located on Basile St, next door to the Sumner school.

In partnership with the good folks at ComedySportz, we will have improv/ theater-based programming that will build on and complete our creative themes for the week.

We’ll be at the theater on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 12:30 - 2:30pm. Create instructors will walk youth to/from the theater and remain with the group the entire time. This programming is including in this registration and pricing; no need to do anything separate!

Laughter is a great thing! It brings communities together, creates and grows friendships, and provides much needed space for self-expression and play. The lessons that improv teaches support and grow awesome skills like resiliency, creating a welcoming space, and supporting others, to public speaking and communication.

The approximate schedule for each day:

9 - 9:15: Arrival

9:15 - 10:30: Art Project

10:30 - 10:50: Snack & Stretch break at Birch St. Plaza

11 - 12: Art Project

12 - 12:30: Lunch and recess at either Adams Park, The Sumner School playground, or Fallon Field

12:30 - 2:30: On Tuesdays & Thursdays we’ll head to The Rozzie Square Theater for Improv programming in coordination with the wonderful staff from ComedySportz!

Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays we’ll return to Create for more creative work

2:30 - 3: Clean up and dismissal at Create or Birch St. Plaza (directly across Corinth St) depending on weather and group energy needs.

  • All summer programs will have one lead instructor and one teen support staff.

  • This is an instructional art program; we are not able to accommodate unique medical or behavioral needs at this time. Please contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

  • All students must bring a snack, lunch, and water bottle every day.
